HABA Holds May Meeting

The Harlingen Area Builders Association held their monthly meeting at Harlingen Country Club on Tuesday, May 1st with over 60 members in attendance. HABA President welcomed all of the members and Vice President, Arrellano Zapatero introduced Falcon International Bank as a new member to HABA. Edward Gonzales introduced the Guest speakers, Mayoral Candidates Chris Boswell and Kenneth Benton who talked to the members about their plans and ideas for the city and community if elected.

Debbie Elizarde, Charity Committee Chairman, presented a $500 check on behalf of HABA members to Capt. Hector Leal and Capt. Ramon Vela who are fundraising for the upcoming Special Olympics Texas to be held at the end of this month in Dallas, Texas and both of whom will be participating the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The Committee for the upcoming Tour of Homes to be held on June 23rd and June 24th made a presentation on the participation levels and plans for the event. It was also announced that there will be $1000 in cash door prizes to be given away and First Community Bank will also be sponsoring a kick off barbeque for all HABA members.

Associate Member, Rebecca Rios introduced the Associate Spotlight Member, Hope Lumber Company who talked about the services available to all builder members at their various locations.

On a final note, it was announced that HABA will be joining the Texas Builders Association and National Builders Association and will now hold the charter for the entire Cameron County Area.
