February 2008 Meeting

The Harlingen Area Builders Association held their February 2008 Meeting

HABA President, Armando Elizarde welcomed everyone and introduced the guest speaker, Molly Simms-Area 4 Vice President for the Texas Association of Builders. She gave an informative presentation about the benefits available to HABA now that the association is a member of the Texas and National Builders Association. This includes help with industry issues such as contracts, education, energy code and storm water training in addition to legislative issues at the local and state level.

Vice President, Arrellano Zapatero introduced new members, Mortgage Lending
Tree and Friendly Insurance. In addition as the Associate Spotlight Member, Cesar Perez with Friendly Insurance talked about the services available through his insurance firm in Harlingen specifically tailored to the needs of the builder in addition to auto, home and life insurance.

Details of the upcoming New Tour of Homes scheduled for April 19th and 20th were also announced and the meeting was concluded with a Builder Spotlight Presentation by Acacia Construction. Mr. Zapatero, owner of Acacia Construction talked about the upcoming projects he is working on in Harlingen and the services available including residential and commercial projects.
